Back in WoW and Playing a Mage

Blood Elf Mage

I’m finally getting back into World of Warcraft after installing it on my new desktop. For reasons related to graphical performance, I was never able to fully enjoy WoW on my Macbook. The Macbook does an ok job but overall, it felt a bit laggy and with most graphics set to “low” it looked more like a Playstation 2 game.

It’s an entirely different story on my desktop. Everything moves fluidly with all settings on “high.” With the increase in graphical detail, the world takes on a more cartoony appearance. This even exceeds the game experience on my old Macbook Pro.

So after playing on and off for the past several months, I start my march to level 70. I finally decided to go with a Blood Elf mage. I played with a paladin for while but couldn’t get into the play mechanics of the class.

Basically I wanted:

  • High DPS
  • Ranged Attack
  • Good Crowd Control
  • Fun to Play in PvE and PvP

I thought about going with a hunter but I have no interest in pet management. I remember wiping a UBRS run when I forgot to dismiss my imp.

I’m currently level 14 and the mage class is a lot of fun to play so far. Looking forward to becoming 70, playing some AB and getting my ass handed to me by some purpled-out rogue.

Are any you getting back into WoW this year? Are you rerolling or is such an idea just too painful?
