Will we see an Apple Home Server this Year?

Apple needs to release a home server. Hanging a USB hard drive off an Airport Extreme doesn’t count. With Apple’s continued push into the media market, now would be a good time to make it easy for users to consolidate their media files as well as stream video and music to multiple devices.
Looking at HP’s MediaSmart Home Server, I see this as a hardware space that would benefit Apple. The existence of a reasonably priced, reliable Apple-centric home server would actually make the struggling Apple TV more useful. Instead of having to rely on one of your Macs, you can dedicate the home server to feeding the Apple TV.
The ability to move all my music and videos off my puny 160GB Macbook hard drive and onto a multi-terabyte server just makes sense. I’d much rather have iTunes point to a fast networked storage device rather than having all these files hog up my local hard drive. And this home server could perform other less trivial/more boring tasks like backing up all the Macs on your home network.
Will Apple announce such a device at Macworld? With most rumors focusing on a possible update to the Macbook Pro lineup, I have my doubts. I personally look forward to seeing a new smaller Macbook Pro but I can’t discount the benefits of a solid home oriented server and I hope Apple thinks the same.
