Will Japan get a 3G iPhone?

According to a report, the iPhone might eventually show up in Japan.
TOKYO (AFP) - NTT DoCoMo said Wednesday that its president had met with Apple chief executive Steve Jobs amid reports that Japan’s top mobile telephone operator is in talks to launch the iPhone here.
“It is true that Mr Steve Jobs of Apple Inc. and our president (Masao) Nakamura held a meeting,” an NTT DoCoMo spokesman said, declining to reveal the timing or content of the discussions.
Looking at some of the Japanese mobile phones, I think a lot of them lack originality. With most Japanese mobiles, I picture a huge flip phone with a high-megapixel camera, crappy UI, and it’s all encased in some kind of bright plastic.
I think the iPhone has a chance of making an impact in Japan. The iPhone already offers an excellent user experience. If they can include features that are standard in other Japanese mobile devices, they then stand a chance of solidifying their position in Japan.
