Video Pick: Game Center CX

It’s funny to see a Japanese comedian in his 30s struggle to beat notoriously hard 8-bit Famicom games. He’ll go on multi-hour video game sessions and sometimes an AD will have to jump in to help him finish some of these games.
Game Center CX is a video game show hosted by Arino Shinya. He’s a part of the comedy duo Yoiko (よるこ).
This is a Japanese variety show about video games hosted by a comedian who’s not annoying. It’s a nice change of pace from the usual G4TV programming.
The show airs on Fuji TV. If you don’t live in Japan, you can order the DVD box set from one of the many online Japanese retailers. On a related topic, Wired has a brief article about Gamecenter CX in its latest issue.

I remember this game. Never played it but I do remember it. Good stuff. Now all they need to do is make a Sega Mark III version of this show and it would be perfect.

Actually, the show covers platforms other than just the Famicom. I haven’t seen every episode so I’m not sure if Arino has had a chance to play with a Sega Mark III.
