Pick: Denshi Jisho

With the Leopard upgrade comes an update to the dictionary application. Included in this new dictionary are three Japanese references: a Japanese dictionary, a Japanese-English dictionary, and a Japanese synonyms dictionary.
While I think I’ll get some good use out of them, for pure speed, I still prefer using Denshi Jisho.
Developed by Kim Ahlström, this is an excellent online Japanese language reference. It has a clean, simple web interface to a full-featured Japanese/English dictionary.
I can simply type in the Japanese word I want to look up in romaji and Denshi Jisho does the rest. If I want to look up a word using Apple’s dictionary, I have to switch input methods. I realize it’s not a huge deal but there are times when I prefer to save a few keystrokes. In addition, you can also look up kanji as well as sentences.
I’ve only gone over some of the basics of this site. So I invite you to check it out and see if it’s something you’d like to add to your Japanese language arsenal.
