Review: Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset

Apple iPhone Bluetooth Headset

In a continuing series of reviews, I’ll next look at the iPhone Bluetooth Headset from Apple. The first thing I notice is the sleek design and metallic construction. With simplicity in mind, Apple only included one button on this device. Overall, I like the design, as well as the fit and finish of this headset. I’m glad Apple took this design route instead making a device that looks like a silvery UFO.

If you’re happy with the fit of the standard iPhone earbuds, then you’ll be happy with the fit of this headset. This is very important since the quality of the fit will determine whether this headsets stays in your ear or falls out. I found the fit to be a bit tight but not too uncomfortable. During extended length phone calls, by ear would begin to hurt after about 20 mintues.

The incoming audio quality was ok. I could hear the person on the other end but it sounded more digitized when compared to using the iPhone directly. Outgoing audio was so-so. Many times, the person on the other end told me I sounded distant. They thought I was using a speaker phone.

The device integrates nicely with the iPhone. The headset pairs to your iPhone by merely attaching your iPhone and Headset to the included Dual Dock. During this time, the battery status of the headset is displayed on the iPhone.

Overall, this is a decent bluetooth headset for the iPhone. While the audio quality is not groundbreaking, it’s certainly good enough in most instances. If your ear is compatible with this headset then you won’t have to put with the annoying ear loops that come with most other competing headsets.

The 129 dollar price tag sounds a bit steep but when you consider that it comes with a Dual Dock and travel cable, the price isn’t too bad. Those interested in audio quality should look elsewhere. Those who want a clean, simple solution will certainly find a lot to like about this headset. Just make sure it fits your ear first.

  1. Geez, you bought this already? Actually, I like the design but it looks like it would seem like a pack of chewing gum stuck to the side of your head.

  2. I used to own it. I wasn’t happy with the outgoing sound quality.
